FynArts Newsletter 3/2020
Dear FynArts Supporters
Here we find ourselves on Day 1 of our 21 day lockdown in South Africa. Whilst there is much to be grateful for, such as the decisive leadership of our President, the reality is that these are unprecedented times we live in.
Bearing this in mind it is with sadness that I must confirm that FynArts 2020 has had to be cancelled in its present form.
In the following months we will work closely with performers, artists and other partners to develop creative ways to conceptualise and reimagine how to offer some of the cancelled events in the months ahead. We look forward to building partnerships, old and new, as we work together on new ways of doing.
For the past seven years FynArts would not have been possible without the loyal support of all our sponsors. We are deeply grateful. We would especially like to thank our generous headline sponsors for the series of events they support – Tollman Bouchard Finlayson Art Award and Strauss & Co Series of Talks. We are very pleased to announce that our major sculpture exhibition now also has a headline sponsor and will be known as Pioneer Freight Sculpture on the Cliffs. We particularly wish to thank this new sponsor, who, in their first year of partnering with us, will continue as the headline sponsor despite this very uncertain time. Thank you for your support for FynArts, and through this exhibition, of your support for all who live in and visit Hermanus.
Last but not least, we would like to thank and acknowledge our long line-up of excellent artists, musicians, speakers and presenters. We will be in touch with each one of you during the next few days to discuss creative ways of bringing the essence of FynArts to all our supporters and festival goers.
Even at this time of great hardship for so many, may we move onward and upward together.
Warmest wishes
Mary Faure
Festival Director
