Barbara Masekela in conversation with Christopher Hope
Barbara is a South African poet, educator, mother and activist, well-known for her role in the ANC, in Mandela’s presidential office after 1994 and as ambassador first to France and then to the United States. In this memoir Barbara recounts vignettes of memory and shows us a remarkable history of her childhood.
The sister of Bra Hugh Masekela, she writes of close family bonds, of belonging, of struggle and sacrifice, and of women’s rights, and femininity.
