Barbara’s memoir is a history of then and now, of belonging,African identity, women’s rights, and femininity.
She recounts not only the growing pains of a childhood inhibited by strict beliefs and systems, first-hand experiences of struggle and sacrifice, of inhumanity and the deep scars they etch, but also of the author’s
life-giving relationship with her siblings, including Bra Hugh Masekela. Barbara will read vignettes from her memoir.
